Area VI Directors

We were elected by the Area VI membership and our job is to represent you and serve as a liaison between you, your State Associations, and EANGUS.  If you have any questions regarding our Area Caucus and Mid-Winter, or questions about the EANGUS National Conference, Legislation, Scholarships, Awards, Membership, or other Committees, or if you have suggestions for the association, please contact us!

Area VI Chair and Director Air:

SMSgt J.D. Escobar (Nevada)

J.D. was elected as the Air Director for Area VI in 2023 and was selected as the Chair in 2024. He is a currently serving AGR member of the Nevada Air National Guard, working as the Command Post Superintendent for the 152nd Air Wing located in Reno. He has completed ALS, NCOA, and the Senior NCO Academy as well as having both his Yellow and Green Belt certifications. He holds Associate degrees in Communications, Logistics and Emergency Management, and a bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management.  J.D. is a Life member of EANGUS and has been active in many positions within the Nevada Enlisted Association, to include serving as their State President since 2018.

Area VI Director Army:

CSM (Ret) David Austin (Arizona)

Dave retired from the Arizona Army National Guard as a Command Sergeant Major in 2009, which included many leadership positions culminating in his service as a Brigade CSM.  Dave has been active with the Arizona State Enlisted Association chapter (EANGA) and continues to serve as the EANGA Retiree Director, a position he has held for many years. He was elected as the Area VI Army Director in 2025 and also serves as the Area VI representative on the EANGUS Finance Committee, as well as members of the EANGUS Membership and Retiree Affairs Committees. Dave served in various civilian law enforcement roles over the years, starting in 1974 as a patrol officer doing both field operations and detective work. He also worked as a Probation Officer, Juvenile Detention Officer, and is a certified self-dense and firearms instructor.  He holds a BA in Public Administration from Northern Arizona University and is a graduate of the US Army Sergeants Major Academy.

Area VI Director At Large:

SSgt Nick Siegler (Colorado)

Nick was elected as the At Large Director for Area VI in 2024.  He currently serves as a drill status Guardsman and AIS Avionics Craftsman, with the 140th MSX in the Colorado Air National Guard.  He is a graduate of Airman Leadership Course and has an associate’s degree from the Community College of the Air Force in Avionics Systems Technology. He is also working towards a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.  He served as the NGACO Junior Enlisted Director from 2022-2024 and with his election for this position, he plans to work on increasing the membership of enlisted members of the National Guard nationwide. Nick was also elected by the Area to serve on the We Care for America Foundation Board of Directors.
